The samāna sūktam is also called saṁvāda, aikyamatya, or saṁjñāna sūktam. It means the hymn of common deliberations, collective awareness, and universal harmony. Just as the forces of nature are distinct, yet united, and just as their sum total is far more radiant than the individual entities, men must also realise the importance of a common purpose, a united vision, to which we must collectively aspire, and uplift ourselves in this material world, as well as spiritually. This is the grand message of the samāna sūktam.
